Skepta’s Latest Más Tiempo Record “Can’t Play Myself” Is a Tribute to Amy Winehouse

Following the presentation of his show-stopping MAINS show at London Fashion Week, UK rap legend and Boy Better Know general, Skepta, has just dropped his latest house record under his Más Tiempo umbrella alongside fellow BBK rhymer, Jammer.

Skep’s latest release, titled “Can’t Play Myself (A Tribute To Amy)” samples Amy Winehouse’s 2006-released single “Tears Dry On Their Own,” with the record being cleared for release by the Amy Winehouse Foundation. And while Skeppy has teased the track in various sets over the summer — including shows at Arcadia and Glastonbury — the song is now out in its entirety.

Since the launch of Más Tiempo, Skepta and Jammer have been big fans of samples. For example, earlier this year, the duo shared “Don’t Share Love,” which sampled the debut solo single from Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne, while another release, “Touching My Body,” enlisted the silky-smooth vocals of Etta Bond.

Now, “Can’t Play Myself (A Tribute To Amy)” uses the late Winehouse’s vocals to lay the foundations for a collection of kicks and drums, whilst a slew of crisp claps are welcomed to push the production forward.

Due to light up various house events in the coming months — including a star-studded event at The Warehouse Project next month — you can listen to the latest Más Tiempo release above and the song is available to stream in its entirety below.
