It’s been about a few months now since ZULO’s last drop, which came in the form of his infectious single called’ Adawise’ that left some great impressions and to kickstart his 2024, ZULO has linked up with Flow Jones Jr. to drop off a new pop-edged trap anthem called ‘JOL.
‘JOL’ is said to delve into the all-too-relatable challenges that artists very offently encounter with bookings, chasing after payments from promoters, or even worse such as not receiving compensation at all… Throughout the song Flow Jones Jr. can be heard seamlessly incorporating an injection of Msaki’s “Ulwandle Lutshile”, while ZULO takes centre stage which includes an expression of his reluctance to linger at parties longer than necessary.
Produced by ZULO himself, ‘JOL’ further boasts a trap beat adorned with a spiraling synth and trumpet accents, reminiscent of Outkast’s iconic “SpottieOttieDopaliscious”, while sneaking in a surprise log drum during the chorus that amplifies the pair’s passionate demand for the dues rightfully owed to them…
I wanted to put something in there that feels very 2000s hip-hop, something amapiano, while still keeping it current and making sure it sounds like home.
