K.Keed & Orish Reunite On uMgaranto II

Three years after the release of uMgaranto, K.Keed and Orish have reunited for uMgaranto II, a collaborative album that reflects their growth as artists while staying true to the Gugulethu roots that first brought them together.

The original project introduced listeners to the duo’s undeniable chemistry through standout records such as “Amaxabiso,” “Ngangelizwe,” and “Goduka.” With uMgaranto II, they build on that foundation by delivering a more refined, ambitious and emotionally layered body of work without sacrificing the authenticity that resonated with fans from the beginning.

From cinematic production to sharp lyricism, the album captures both artists at a new stage in their careers. Each track contributes to a cohesive listening experience, balancing introspective storytelling with energetic performances that celebrate South African hip hop through a distinctly local perspective.

The project features songs including “Abenam,” “Icebo Elithile,” “Tuku Tuku,” “Mpahla” featuring Creed Oasis, and “Professor” featuring Barblee, exploring themes of ambition, resilience, loyalty, love and personal growth. Together, the songs paint a vivid picture of township life, highlighting the challenges, triumphs and relationships that shape their journey.

Speaking about the album, Orish described uMgaranto II as an opportunity to strengthen the creative bond between himself and K.Keed while embracing personal and artistic growth. K.Keed added that the sequel is more cinematic, intentional and sonically satisfying than the first instalment, reflecting how far both artists have come since the release of the original project.

As South African hip hop continues to reach audiences beyond the country’s borders, uMgaranto II reinforces K.Keed and Orish’s commitment to authentic storytelling and proudly representing their community. More than just a sequel, the album is a celebration of friendship, artistic maturity and remaining connected to one’s roots.

uMgaranto II is now available on all major streaming platforms, with fans in Cape Town also set to experience the project through upcoming listening sessions and live performances.
