Yesterday hip-hip juggernaut, Maglera Doe Boy, shared the news of his upcoming short film supposedly called ‘The running of the Bulls’ that was shot at Macaneta in Mozambique.
Shot by renowned & contemporary visionary, Thotloetso Kutlwano Mogotsi, this forthcoming short film is said to be dedicated to a different side of Maglera’s family that was affected by the South African Diaspora as in the announcement post for it, Maglera shares some bittersweet family history influenced by the apartheid regime that led to a “very poor family in a very poor time for people of color” according to the celebrated artist.
My grandfather raised my father on a farm. A farm where they worked for a farmer who ended up kicking them off the land. He had cows he raised over the years that belonged to him.

The post about this does enough to convey the importance of a project such as this not only for Maglera Doe Boy himself but for those, like us, willing to explore a little deeper into the unknown aspects of him that are part of his identity which we all ultimately experience through the music too.
This ‘The running of the Bulls’ short film is expected to drop this week and was made amongst some very talented people. No trailer or teaser has been shared yet…
